College phenom Caitlin Clark’s recent $76,000 rookie-year contract in the women’s professional basketball league (WNBA) sparked an outcry over gender pay and called attention to a long-standing issue that extends to women in the workforce. Compared to Clark’s contract, the minimum salary for the men’s professional basketball league (NBA) is $1.1 million.
